• Are there restrictions over the structure of a domain name?

  Domain names typically all use the same syntax in order to make things easier for everyone. Don't worry, though. There are still (literally) millions of possibilities for your domain name and a required syntax shouldn't have to slow you down. If you have to know, though, every domain name usually consists of a hostname (like rootnerds!) and a top-level domain (TLD). This makes everything simple and easy to read. Also, domain names are all case-insensitive, which means that capital letters in your domain name don't really matter. Pretty simple, right?

• How long does it take to register a domain name?

  Ordering a domain is fast and easy through our site. Once you've ordered your domain name, it could take anywhere from only 10 minutes up to 3 days for your order to process completely. Why? Some domain names (like .com) are much more popular than others and the domain name registrar (that's not run by us!) receives hundreds, even thousands of newly-registered domains every day. Other TLDs take less time to process through the registry queue and you'll have your domain name running in no time. Either way, the benefits make it all worth it.

• Can I cancel a domain name?

  Domain name registries expire after one year. If you want to keep your domain name, you'll have to renew it! If you're not happy with your domain name, or you just don't need it anymore, then you're free to simply let your domain name expire on its own. Your domain name is yours, after all, and if you want to get rid of it you can do so. Nobody is going to force you to keep renewing your domain name, so you don't have to worry about a thing! If it's just a provider change you want, domain name transfers are also quick and easy to do, reducing even more hassle.

• How do I change the details or transfer a domain name?

  Changing the details of your domain name can be done with the press of a button using our state of the art control panel. Transferring a domain name to RootNerds is easy, too, and can be done through the domain transfer section on our billing site. All you'll need to do is grab the EPP code from the current registrar, fill in all of the information, and we'll do the rest for you. Once you've got your domain name up and running, if there's something you can't find on the control panel, try our customer support; we're happy to help you out with whatever it is!

• Whos name will be in the Whois?

  While all domains legally belong to you, we offer you the possibility to use a trustee service for some of the top level domains.
